 The Philosophy       

  

      "Discovery of fire"

     Have you ever heard the phrase, "A lot of love went into that dish?" The act of cooking is the basic human skill that not only became a raw survival experience, but a spiritual activity through creative inspiration. Since the discovery of fire it has been a pursuit that connects us all--and one that can transform those basic skills into an art form. 

 

     The emphasis here however, is simply on culinary technique over "recipe." This is an integral part of the Inner Chef classes. The goal is to rely less on strict adherence to a given recipe and gain more understanding of what grandmothers, family cooks, and great chefs know:  ingredients + love = success. The "dish" is greater than the sum of its parts. Soon robots will be able to follow recipes and bring them to a wanting fruition, but only we can bring our unique intuitive "grace" to the process--the intangible yet essential human element.

 

     The Inner Chef  explores the difference between a cook and a chef. I will teach you how to be a better cook, but I will also inspire you to connect with your own creativity as well. You may not have gone to culinary school nor have acquired the knowledge of a trained chef, but these classes will enable you to create dishes with simplicity and pride.  Become proficient in these techniques and you will be able to discover your "fire" and have fun tapping into your own Inner Chef.
